Baseball Programs Available (subject to enrollment numbers)


 

We offer five baseball programs for ages 13 -19 at different levels of play:

  • Gopher State 13-15U
  • Gopher State Rec. League (formerly North Star)
  • VFW
  • Gopher State 16AAA
  • Gopher State 17-19U (recreational)

Gopher State/MYAS 13-15
AAA, AA and A  are competitive leagues at the 13-, 14-, and 15-year-old age groups.

  • There will be a “AAA” team, a “AA” team, and a “A” at each level if we have enough players. 
  •  13-year-old teams play on fields with 75’ base paths.
  •  14- and 15-year-old teams play on fields with 90’ base paths. 
  •  You can expect to play two games a week and weekend tournaments. There can be advancement to the State and National tournaments.
  •  Fees include entry into one state tournament.
  •  Expect to play a minimum of 30 games against some of the best competition in the metro area. 
  • 13U -14U - The season begins in May and may extend into early August.
  • 15U - The season starts after the high school season concludes.
  •  Uniform includes one hat, one jersey, one belt, one pair of pants and all lettering. 
  •  Teams are formed by a tryout and coach selection process.

Rec. League (formerly North Star League) 
Designed for players that want to play baseball within a somewhat less competitive environment and with a lesser commitment of time and cost. 

  • 13-year-old teams (13U) play on fields with 75’ or 90’ base paths.
  • 14- and 15-year-old teams (15U) play on fields with 90’ base paths. 
  •  You can expect to play a 16-game schedule with a possible post-season tournament. 
  • Games are played against teams from neighboring communities. 
  • The season begins in mid-May and will go to late July depending on your success in the post-season. 
  • Uniform will include one hat, one jersey.  You will be responsible for providing your own pants.
  • Teams are formed by a tryout and coach selection process.

Gopher State 16U Programs
Centennial Baseball League can have a separate Gopher State 16U program. This will include VFW and a 16 AAA team if the numbers allow.  If not, the Gopher State 16 AAA players will participate at the 17-19U level.

VFW is a highly competitive team for 16-year-olds. Tryouts for this team are at the coaches' discretion.

  •  The VFW season will begin following the high school season.
  •  Players can expect to play approximately two games a week plus practices at the coaches’ discretion.  There are end-of-season district playoffs and a chance to qualify for the State VFW tournament.
  •  Fees include one tournament as well as entry into the state tournament. The team may vote to play in additional tournaments at its expense.

Gopher State 16AAA
A competitive league offering AAA level of competition. 

  • All teams can be formed by the coaches and approved by the CBL for submission to MYAS for league play. 
  • Players and/or coaches should bring the CBL a complete roster with all team members registered. 
  • The season will begin following the high school season.
  • Team will be formed after VFW roster has been chosen.     
  • You can expect to play two games a week with occasional practices.
  • Expect to play a 14-game season against teams from the seven county Metro area.
  • Tournament play will be at the discretion of each team and could mean an additional cost to the players.
  • Uniforms include one hat, one jersey and all lettering.  You will be responsible for providing your own pants.

Gopher State/MYAS 17-19
A competitive league offering AAA-AA level of competition.  

  • All teams can be formed by the coaches and approved by the CBL for submission to MYAS for league play. 
  • Players and/or coaches should bring the CBL a complete roster with all team members registered.
  • The season will begin following the high school season
  • You can expect to play two games a week with occasional practices.
  • Expect to play a 14-game season against teams from the seven county Metro area.
  • Tournament play will be at the discretion of each team and could mean an additional cost to the players.
  • Uniform includes one hat, one jersey and all lettering.  You will be responsible for providing your own pants.
